As the Angels continue on what can be revered as maybe the toughest part of their 2010 schedule, we fans are reminded that these next 2 weeks could make or break the Angels season. Currently the Angels are 4-2 after the All-Star break having taken 3 out of 4 from the Seattle Mariners and a split with the Yankees. Not too shabby to say the least but, the the true test is about to present itself with a HUGE 4-game road series with Texas, then its back home with 3 games against the struggling-but-tough Boston Red Sox and yet another 3-game series against the Rangers.
Over the course of the next 2 months, the Angels play Texas 10 more times after the upcoming 4-game series that starts tomorrow. These games are crucial, especially the next 4, because the Angels could find themselves 9 to 10 games back in the division if they are swept this week, leaving us fans reeling! Even worse, the Angels are 7.5 games back in the wild card hunt, trailing Minnesota, Boston, and Tampa Bay. It's still early but, its not likely that the Angels will challenge the big teams in the East for a Wild Card Spot. The Angels are currently 5.5 games back in the AL West division
So, it is the division or bust for our beloved Angels. Let's hope that they at least take 3 of 4 from the Rangers this week, 2 from the Red Sox, and sweep Texas at home! . Look for Maicer Izturis, Torii Hunter, Hideki Matsui, and Mike Napoli to break out over the next 2 weeks! Those are my picks to click!
