1 Down 5 More Free Agents to go

Coming off the disappointing Post-Season, the Angels have come to terms with a Bobby Abreu extension. When the ALCS was completed, I was put off with re-signing Abreu. He's getting older He'll be 36. His power numbers were down this year. His bat went silent in the ALCS, is he really worth re-signing? But after my losing efforts at Halos Heaven, I started to soften on the idea of re-signing one of the most disciplined hitters in the game. And Steve Bisheff who was a guest on AM 830's The Drive helped me reach my epiphany. Bisheff suggested that keeping Abreu around could help with the conditioning young hitters with bat patience. A skill that could perhaps help ease Brandon Wood into the major leagues. No doubt about it, the clubhouse benefited from the Abreu/Hunter lose atmosphere.

Rumors circulated during the playoffs that Abreu had turned down a 2 Year 16 Million offer. And the rumors continue to say that Abreu was offered a 19 Million dollar guaranteed contract for 2 years with a 1 Million Dollar buy out option for a 3rd year at 9 Million Dollars.
